Porcelain Teeth & Veneers

Transform your old-looking or unsightly teeth with bright, natural-looking veneers.

The appearance of your teeth can deteriorate over time. The enamel might become thin, worn or discoloured, often through everyday habits such as drinking tea or coffee, smoking or taking certain medications. Chips, cracks and an uneven surface are more likely to appear as you age, while some people are simply born with abnormal spacing between their teeth that becomes wider as they grow older.

Veneers are an ideal way of treating discoloured or unsightly teeth. They are thin slices of porcelain that are fitted precisely over the visible surface of your front teeth, in the same way that a false fingernail fits over a nail.

Your JHA dentist will take a small amount of enamel from your tooth along with an impression so that the veneer can be produced in the laboratory. Made from either porcelain or composite resin, the veneer is then bonded to your tooth, with the colour, appearance and translucence matched perfectly to your natural teeth.

Veneers give your teeth - and you - a new lease of life.

Tooth & Teeth Whitening

A bright, white smile is easier to achieve than you might think. At James Hull Associates we have a range of tooth-whitening treatments that will effectively lighten your teeth, returning them to their natural colour without removing any of the tooth surface.

We’ll remove stains such as those caused by tea, coffee, red wine, tobacco or spicy foods. And we’ll give you a choice of clinically approved whitening treatments ranging from our easy-to-use home bleaching kit to our state-of-the-art in-surgery tooth whitening treatment.

Whichever route you take, the results can be stunning as we aim to give you the ultimate, natural bright smile. You should consider tooth whitening before you have any dental restoration work so that the colour of crowns and veneers visible when you smile can be matched to your natural tooth colour after bleaching.

In-surgery Tooth Whitening

It takes just one hour to achieve a bright, white smile. Before your procedure at one of our dental practices we will give you a check-up to ensure that your teeth and gums are healthy. You will be advised of any condition that may prevent us from carrying out the whitening treatment.

Your gums and lips will be protected from the bleaching agent used in the treatment so that the risk of sensitivity following the procedure is reduced. Any sensitivity that does occur usually disappears within 24 hours.

The bleaching agent is applied to each tooth and then exposed to ultra-violet light, which activates the bleaching process. This part of the process is repeated three times to achieve the ultimate result.

We’ll also advise you on how to maintain your beautiful new smile, for example with a few changes to your diet.

Take-home In-tray Tooth Whitening

Our dentists also offer a take-home whitening kit that can achieve similar results over a longer period of time.

An impression is taken of your teeth and two custom-made trays are made to contain the bleaching gel. You take the trays and gel home and are advised to wear the trays for prolonged periods (usually through the night) for several sessions until the whitening process is complete. Results using this method are comparable to in-surgery but some patients find it a less convenient method of whitening their teeth.

Few people would want to cut out the tea, coffee, red wine etc that causes discolouration, so we recommend maintenance or "touch-ups" to keep your teeth white for the long term.
